SHUTDOWN!

Daily Number of New Cases in the US = 10,110

Governor Inslee has issued a statewide Shutdown for Washington State. Finally. I’ve been so nervous of this virus I’ve not been sure what to do. We all seem to need a “reset” or time to recalibrate and make sure we are not sick. I mean, who among us is infected? Scary thoughts that have run around through our household and our company. There is so much we do not know and so much we can’t understand. All we know is that people are still dying in Kirkland and now in other states.

Eagle prepared for a shutdown methodically and with great care. We are an essential business, so we could stay open. However, our team members all needed some time and we feel we had enough inventory to give people the time off. I am most nervous about what everyone will do with their time off. Hopefully they will stay home and not engage in any risky behaviour….

We are keeping some departments open. The warehouse will stay open to receive and ship, as well as one person in customer service. Managers are told to finish their certification courses, finish writing their SOPs and other housekeeping left unfinished. We could still make it a productive time. I’ll keep you posted on how we do!

The exact Proclamation reads as follow:

Wash. Gov. Jay Inslee announced he will sign a statewide order today for Washingtonians to "Stay Home, Stay Healthy", which includes a ban on all social and recreational gatherings and closure of businesses that are not essential to the fight against the COVID-19 novel coronavirus or maintaining critical services during the emergency. The order is enforceable by law and will last for at least two weeks.

This proclamation will:

  • Require every Washingtonian to stay home unless they need to pursue an essential activity.

  • Ban all gatherings for social, spiritual and recreational purposes.

  • Close all businesses except essential businesses.

So, this is new!
